what is rainbow cup?

Russia, the host nation of the next World Cup, is one of the most homophobic countries in the world. FIFA defends that the event should celebrate soccer, equality and diversity, but did not want to commit to the subject and to the safety of people attending the event.

Thatโ€™s why we created a way to the LGBT+ community protest raising their flags, without the need of taking any: Rainbow Cup, a movement that gets life and color on the digital, centralized in the hashtag #rainbowcup, so that as the World Cup happens, people protest in a safe way at any place of the event.

What happens in Russia

Known for being very authoritarian and for for repressing the freedom of expression according to the state agenda, Russia is not a friendly country to homosexuals or protestors of any kind. In a quick search, it is very easy to come across reports of this repression in the nation:
